Wedding: Marlon & Ashley

It feels like it’s been years since I’ve put together a wedding post!  Of course, when I look back at when the last time I actually posted one…maybe it was 2011.  Sorry I was in college everyone, blogging is hard!

Anyway, you’re probably not here to focus on my blogposts-past.  You probably came to look at some pretty photos, and I’m excited to say that today’s wedding will not disappoint!  Marlon and Ashley were married last year in a field in her parents’ backyard.  And by backyard, I really mean on land they own, because I grew up in suburbia and backyards just aren’t that big, ok?  They just aren’t.

Everything about this wedding was the perfect mix of sparkle, glam, rustic, and chic.  Also, Marlon and Ashley are two of the sweetest people I have ever met.  Everyone else seems to think so too, because the amount of people who poured enormous amounts of time and energy into making this wedding was so admirable.  I smile each time I remember this day, and I’m pretty sure my second-shooter, Brian, does too.   Just wait until you see what they did instead of a getaway!

Without further adieu, Marlon and Ashley:

After signing the guestbook, guests were taken on a hay ride down a path leading to the ceremony site.  On their way they passed lots of candles displayed in fun ways–so beautiful and enchanting.

Of course the flour girl threw glitter instead of flower petals!  Also, did I mention that the ceremony took place at night?  As in, total darkness ladies and gentlemen.

See the box in the photo above that they are opening?  Marlon and Ashley wrote letters to each other and put them in the box along with photos of each other and a bottle of wine.  They will open it on their first anniversary, read the letters, drink the wine, and add more of everything to be opened on their second anniversary.  They’ll continue this tradition throughout their marriage–romantic right?

We snapped a few photos of the reception site before the ceremony…hence, the light.

I love a couple that can be silly!

Ok, so instead of a getaway, Marlon, Ashley, and their guests lit paper lanterns that float in the sky like magical stars full of happiness.  Maybe I’m exaggerating here, but I really love the movie Tangled–so this was kind of a dream-come-true experience for me!

Obviously this wedding wasn’t about me though, and Marlon and Ashley did a great job of personalizing their wedding to reflect their style.  I am honored to have gotten to shoot this wedding!  Thanks Marlon and Ashley, I wish you the best!

His Truly,

Mary O.
