My name is Mary Ogilvie, but you can just call me Mary O.
I’m an INFP, a lover of breakfast potatoes (preferably smothered in green chiles), Mexican hot chocolate, music, wildflowers, poetry, taking deep breaths, and the way Faith and travel and good conversations and lovely people help me become more Me.
The older I get, the less I think I know! This world is big and small at the same time, and I want to soak up as much wisdom as I can while I’m here. Also, I’m a big fan of standing up for those who can’t stand up for themselves, so I’m trying to practice that as much as I can! There is quite enough love and grace and hope to go around, I say.
I’ve been a photographer since the Spring of 2009 when I first picked up a DSLR camera. I started taking photos of leaves and sticks and my parents’ dog and posting them on Facebook. After that, people started asking me to take pictures of them in exchange for coffee (a pretty great deal for a college student), and the rest is history!
Since then I have had the pleasure and honor of working under such photographers as Amanda Geier, and Amanda Keith (aka Indie Jane). In 2012, I graduated from Oklahoma State University (GO POKES!) with a degree in Human Development and Family Science. Everyone asks what I’m doing with that degree, and the answer is nothing official for now…I’m a photographer :)
Oh, and in January of 2013 I married my high school sweetheart, Colin.*
If you’re still curious, here are some more fun facts about me:
-I try to live simply, so my husband and I recycle and use less every day. We’re also recently into learning more about ethical and slow fashion.
-I hate 80s pop music with a strong passion, but I love most other music–especially slow acoustic jams and hip hop/rap
-I haven’t had a Facebook account since 2011 (and no, I don’t miss it)
-I can’t whistle
-I often laugh to the point of crying….it’s a little embarrassing
I love photography, because it allows me to capture this beautiful world and the beautiful people in it in a way nothing else can. I feel completely blessed to have the opportunity to do what I do, and my hope is to pour that blessing into every one of my clients.
If you have any questions for me at all, the best way to reach me is via email (email@example.com), so don’t be shy!
Thanks so much for reading!
