“Well this is the year
And the Cubs are real
So come on down to Wrigley Field

Go, Cubs, Go!
Go, Cubs Go!
Hey, Chicago, what do you say?
The Cubs are gonna win today”

7-8) We ordered Lou Malnati’s pizza from Chicago in honor of the World Series, so we enjoyed it before going to watch game 4…which was a doozy.  Also, check out my lucky socks with sandals #coolkid

17-18) After the shower, Colin and I took Bozeman out to the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge to go for a walk.  It was just the relaxing we needed after a crazy-long weekend and a crazier week!

19) Cubs won game 5 which kept us going in the World Series.  Here’s a photo of the W flag flying in the window at Blake and Brian’s house haha

20) Our friend, Mirinda, threw a Halloween party and she asked for me to make the food creepy…this was the best I could do haha

21-22) Colin was Harry Potter (he already had the costume), I was Rey, and Bozeman was BB8 (because he’s orange and white haha) for Halloween :) So fun!

25-32) and of course, WE WON THE WORLD SERIES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 108 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It was the single longest and most stressful game of sports I have ever witnessed, but oh my gosh was it worth it!  In the 8th inning, when the Indian’s scored to tie with us, the satellite feed went out at Skinny Slims, and the rain started pouring down.  We all crammed inside and crowded around cell phones to keep up with what happened until the feed finally came back.  The game went into a 10th inning, but then there was a rain delay for 15 minutes.  The first half of inning 10 went great for us, but the Indians still had a chance for the second half.  For the bottom of the 10th, we all went back outside in the pouring rain to be in our usual spots.  Indians scored one point, meaning they were one point away from tying us again and adding another inning.  But then, finally, we got them out.  I started crying immediately.  Everyone was screaming, jumping on top of each other, hugging, and basically freaking out!  Dustin, the bartender at Skinny Slims (who is a huge Cubs fan) ran outside with his arms full of champagne bottles and everyone started shaking them up and spraying them everywhere.  We were already soaking wet from the rain, but the champagne gave us a whole other layer haha.  I think we all sang “Go Cubs Go” about 20 times, and each time was more enthusiastic than the last.  We signed the W flag at Skinnys, took lots of photos and video, and eventually made our way home to relive the excitement through the video clips and news stories.  It was a night I will NEVER forget.  If you want a taste of how we looked/felt, check out this video Brian shared with me.

Also, just in case you think the expressions on Colin’s and my faces are alcohol based, they definitely are not.  I think Colin had two drinks and I had zero.  That is pure adrenaline and emotion! Haha

Oh man, this weekend we have Friendsgiving and a photoshoot (as if this week hadn’t been crazy enough)!  I hope your weekend is refreshing and lovely, friend.

love,

M

3-6) Colin and I took Saturday off to spend the day in Norman.  We brunched at Syrup, walked around the neighborhoods, then spent some time reading at Gray Owl coffee–it was the break we needed after a long several weeks :)

11) Again with the puppies, they like to sit on each other haha

12) I’ve been crafting for Friendsgiving this week!  It’s only one week away–I can’t believe it!

1) Bozeman has gotten more and more cuddly recently–this photo was taken while he was sitting on my lap at my desk chair.  I love that little guy.

2) Yum!  I finally tried The Loaded Bowl food truck after following them on Instagram and getting their vegan cheese sauce from the grocery store for about a year.  Their stacked enchiladas with roasted potatoes and grilled green beans did not disappoint!

10212016-phone-dump2

3-5) More Cubs games at Skinny Slims.  Guys, it’s still been true that we’ve only won the games when Brian has been at Skinnys!  Go Cubs Go!

10212016-phone-dump3

6) My cousins, Mike and Lacie, were in town this weekend with their sweet son, Kolten!  We didn’t get to see them too much, but it was great to spend the time with them that we did have.  :)

7) Well, we found these two homeless puppies in our neighborhood, and we’ve been taking care of them for the past few days while we try to find them a home!  They are brother and sister, and they are so sweet.  They’re also taking over the rest of this phone dump, since that’s most of what I’ve taken photos of this week.

img_9922

8) Watching a Cubs game (we lost that one) at our house with all the puppies….and Blake’s face when he saw I was taking a photo haha

10212016-phone-dump4

9) More morning snuggles with Bozeman…and the 4th Harry Potter book :)

10) They’ve been wearing each other out

10212016-phone-dump5

11) They’ve been wearing me out too–having two baby puppies and Bozeman in the house has meant endless streams of tea and coffee for me this week.  And I’m still tired exhausted!

12) More sleeping dogs haha

Really though, these pups are adorable but I’m so so tired.  I’m hoping we find them a good home soon!  This weekend we will be doing our very best to  r e s t  since we have been failing at that recently.  I hope your weekend is lovely and restful too!

love,

M

Europe 2016: Notre Dame & Sainte Chapelle

Hello, friend!

I’m back after a bit of a break with more Europe photos for you :) Our second day in Paris was sunnier than the first, but I think it was actually colder!  We had a long day of exploring to get to, so we started off in search of crêpes and coffee.  Our first mistake was walking straight past that coffee shop across the street from our apartment…coffee was nowhere to be found for some reason!  We managed to get some crêpes to-go (we couldn’t get a table anywhere since we didn’t make a reservation…we don’t speak French) and we took them to the gorgeous Place des Vosges to enjoy the sunshine.

After enjoying the square for as long as we possibly could without coffee, we took our sweet crêpes (we had already eaten the savory ones) to the nearest coffee shop we could find–a Starbucks….

Which I normally wouldn’t visit while traveling, but I was so sleepy/cold/in need of caffeine by this point that I gladly asked for a giant americano without even trying to speak French.  Not exactly my proudest moment, but you know what?  That americano with my chocolate crêpe was fantastic, and that Starbucks was the coolest one I’ve ever seen.

After enjoying the warmth and caffeine, we started walking to Notre Dame.  I can’t say it enough, Paris is stunning.

After reflecting on the lovely Notre Dame, we walked to Sainte Chapelle for some more stained glass wonder.  Seriously, this was just a mind blowing experience.

When we left there, we got to see some dreamy golden light bless the buildings as we headed toward the Shakespeare and Co bookstore (my lovely cousin Katy lived in Paris last summer, and she said this was a must-see…it was)

So Shakespeare and Company, what a place!  It’s an all English bookstore + coffee shop that’s right by Notre Dame.  You’re not allowed to take photos inside, but it’s kind of like if the Weasleys owned a bookshop.  It’s as if the books themselves are holding up the ceiling–dreamy!

We were tired after a long day of walking, so we tried to go to some restaurants we had written down.  Unfortunately, we needed to make a reservation for all but one, and that one had a line out the door and around the block!  We made the most of it by walking down the street until we found a place that seemed decent, and we found this French restaurant!  I don’t have the name for you (sorry), but I can tell you that we thoroughly enjoyed our meat and cheese plate with a baguette and champagne!

We turned in early to sleep off the lingering sickness and our full day of walking.  I’ll bring you photos of our last day in Paris soon!

Thanks for reading and viewing, friends!  Do you have your own Parisian travel stories?  I’d love to hear them :)

Happy Wednesday!

love,

M

Inspiration Shoot: A Little Darker

This shoot reminds me of that first feeling of cold air after the warmer weather leaves.  The way it can sometimes take your breath away–signaling to you that everything is slowing down and getting a little darker, a little more quiet, a little less showy.

Feel free to listen to this song while you enjoy these photos of the lovely Maddy.  We took these in New Mexico last October.
