“Light will guide you home & ignite your bones”

Fix You // Coldplay

1) Scenes from a walk we took this week–I’ve been so happy to see colorful leaves around here!  I carried this little red one with me the whole time we walked, and it’s currently sitting on our dining room table :)

2) Bozeman is always a snuggler, but these days he’s been extra eager to cuddle up with us (I think it’s the chilly weather)

3-4) We cheered on the Cubbies until the end this week!  Though we won some games earlier in the week, last night we lost the National League Championship to the LA Dodgers.  That means they’ll be going on to the World Series this year and not us :(  I’m happy for our new State though, soooo I guess Go Dodgers?!

5-8) I’m tellin’ ya, California is insanely beautiful.

9) It’s been cloudy (and rainy!!) these past couple days, which means the mountains look a little more like New Mexico mountains than California ones.  I definitely don’t hate it, my heart is in New Mexico most when it’s Fall and Winter!

This weekend we’ll be relaxing (a common theme these days, we’re all about a relaxing weekend) and exploring a little bit.  I hope your weekend is just what you need!

1) It’s that time of year again when we spend most of our evenings cheering on the Cubbies!  Colin loves his W flag, and it’s currently flying off our balcony since we won last night!  Go Cubs Go!!

2) This is Bozeman’s “mom, can we please go on that walk now?!” face

3) We’ve been enjoying our Topeca coffee since I brought some back from OKC :)  Pro tip, if you buy a bag at Cuppies & Joe with your Keep It Local card, you get a free cup of coffee right then and there.  It’s so great!  The Espresso roast is our second favorite–it’s only beaten by their Sweater Weather roast.  So. so. good.

4) I don’t wake up early very often, but when I do I’m always happy to be rewarded with the prettiest light!

5) Guys!  I’ve been reading through the entire collection of Sherlock Holmes stories after our dear friend, Josh, gifted us this copy.  A Study in Scarlett totally blew my mind, and I loved reading all the short stories, but now I’m finally reading The Hound of the Baskervilles!!!  I’ve never read any Holmes before now, but I can see why these books were/are so incredibly popular.

6) This week I have also been full of Star Wars mania (we bought our tickets already!!) since the new trailer dropped.  I’ve worn star wars socks (these have BB8 on them) every day, and I think I’ve watched the trailer 100 times already…what?  I don’t have a problem…

7) Man, the wildfires up here have been so so sad to see.  Earlier this week, the winds brought thick smoke to San Jose that made it hard to see and breathe.  I don’t have a comparison photo for you, but normally you can see a couple more miles worth of rooftops and mountains from this view.

8) Pumpkin cookies because October :)

9) I wasn’t sure if California would have many Autumn leaves, but so far it hasn’t disappointed!

10) See?!

This weekend we’ll be relaxing and shopping for a few new items of clothing for Colin.  I hope your weekend is cozy and wonderful!

“I turn the music up, I got my records on
From underneath the rubble sing a rebel song
Don’t want to see another generation drop
I’d rather be a comma than a full stop

Maybe I’m in the black, maybe I’m on my knees
Maybe I’m in the gap between the two trapezes
But my heart is beating and my pulses start
Cathedrals in my heart
As we saw oh this light I swear you, emerge blinking into
To tell me it’s alright
As we soar walls, every siren is a symphony
And every tear’s a waterfall
Is a waterfall”

1-19) Two weekends ago we got to go back to San Francisco, and it was the loveliest.  I’m so glad we have a big city that’s kind of “ours.”  We’ve also loved getting to meet up with our friends, Sloane and Matt, who live in San Francisco–they are kind and gracious and always up for showing us their favorite places.  Thanks guys!

20) What’s a phone dump without a few snuggly photos of Bozeman?

20-32)  If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that I was just in Oklahoma for a week to shoot my lovely friend’s wedding.  It’s been a few days, but I am still completely wiped out from all the running around I did there!  Since Colin didn’t come with me (and he’s not up for rushing around as much as I am), I did my best to see as many people as I possibly could in the amount of time I was there.  I got to surprise Blake and Brian, have meals with all my bests, hug almost all of my people, and have 3 photo shoots plus the wedding!  Thank you all for your love and time spent on me :)  I’m sorry I didn’t get to see everyone–hopefully next time!!

Also, it was dark when my plane took off from Vegas to San Jose, but when we got into the air, that last photo was my view… it was amazing.

33) Colin and I FINALLY got to see Coldplay (our favorite band) perform live!  It was every single bit as magical as we thought it would be–we danced like crazy, scream/sang, and definitely cried real tears more than once.  We are not really “concert people,”  but we’ve wanted to experience Coldplay for a long time now, so it felt awesome to check that off our bucket list!

34) Pups has been happy to have me back in California, and I must say the feeling is mutual.  A part of me is always in Oklahoma, but it’s just so good to be home!

This weekend we’ll be organizing our apartment and taking it easy.  I hope your weekend is cozy and full of whatever makes you think of Fall :)

“Beauty is honest, it’s not always pretty”

Kathleen Murray

1-2) Last weekend we spent some time visiting local businesses around San Jose.  We went to B2, La Dolce Velo, Recycle Books, and Black & Brown.  I’d recommend them all :)

3) I’ve been doing my best to make more time for reading (and yoga, since both of my yoga mats are in this photo), and I’ve found that the best way to get myself into the habit is by reading captivating fiction.  Our lovely friend, Josh, brought us this collection of Sherlock Holmes stories when he visited from England last year, and it has been the most fun to read recently!  On that note, I would love any fiction recommendations you have for me!

4-11) On Sunday, Colin and I walked all around downtown taking photos of the lovely buildings (and other details).  He had the DSLR camera, so I just snapped a few shots with my phone.  I’m telling ya, San Jose is so pretty!

12) Rooftop sunsets are so great.

13-14) Bozeman loves the bed, that little pups is hilarious to me.

This weekend we’re going back to San Francisco!  I’m excited to do some more exploring around there–what a magical city :)

I hope your weekend is full of adventure and inspiration.

“Be messy and complicated and afraid and show up anyways”

Glennon Doyle Melton

1-12) We finally made it to the beach!  Over Labor Day weekend we rented a car (we don’t have a car here, not sure if I’ve ever mentioned that) and took Bozeman down to Carmel by the Sea.  It was stunning and relaxing, and I still can’t believe that we get to live so close to it all.  California is a dream, truly.

13-16)  We got our first bit of rain (including thunder, which apparently never happens here) since we moved here, and it was so lovely!  I was out running errands…which means walking and taking the bus or light rail…and it just started plopping large drops on my head.  It was awesome!

I’m currently torn between going into full Fall mode and loving the sunny ocean and palm trees vibes still–I think you can have both here though soooo I’m not sweating it too much :)

Obviously there’s not too much in this phone dump even though it covers two weeks worth of time.  We’ve slowed waaaay down since moving here, and we are definitely embracing that!  This season involves lots of quiet days for us, and that is just fine, it just also means we don’t have as many photos to take.

Anyway, this weekend we’re getting dinner with some of Colin’s new work friends and otherwise taking it easy!  I hope your weekend is wonderful.
